Visa Types & Required Documents

 

Important Notice

Please be advised that it is essential for the name of our country to be stated as “Türkiye” in all application documents submitted to the Ministry. Documents using alternative forms of the country name, including “Turkey”, will unfortunately be returned for revision. We kindly request that “Türkiye” is used consistently in all official documentation.

 

JOURNALIST / PRESS VISA 

You do not need to book an appointment to apply for a work visa.

You may visit our office between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).

Please ensure that you bring all required documents with you. Applications cannot be accepted if any required documents are missing.

 

Short-Term Press Visa

Before Applying

Your employer or media organisation must obtain the necessary press accreditation from the relevant authorities in Türkiye. Once the accreditation has been approved, you may submit your visa application.

 

Required Documents

  1. Passport
  • Original passport and photocopy required
  • The applicant’s passport must be valid: with at least 6 months remaining beyond your intended departure date from Türkiye.

For non-British applicants:

  • Passport and residence documents must be valid
  • Applicants must provide a printed copy of their UK immigration status reference from gov.uk
  • The status must show sufficient validity: with at least 6 months remaining beyond your intended departure date from Türkiye.
  1. Biometric Photograph
  • 1 x UK passport-size biometric photograph
  1. Application Form
  • Fully completed and signed
  1. Undertaking Form
  • Fully completed and signed
  1. Proof of UK Residence Status

EU passport holders:

  • Must provide a printed copy of their immigration residence status page (share code submissions will not be accepted)
  • The document must have sufficient validity to allow visa collection

Non-EU / non-British passport holders:

  • Must provide a printed copy of their immigration residence status page (share code submissions will not be accepted)
  • The document must have sufficient validity to allow visa collection

  1. Travel Insurance
  • According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, travel insurance must be arranged through our office
  1. Accreditation Approval

Please provide:

  • A copy of the accreditation approval email or letter issued by the relevant authority in Türkiye, confirming that your press accreditation has been approved.

This document must be presented when submitting your visa application.

  1. UK Press Card

Please provide:

  • Original UK Press Card
  • Photocopy of the UK Press Card
  1. Invitation Letter from Türkiye

An invitation letter issued by the relevant organisation or employer in Türkiye.

  1. Letter from Your UK Employer

The letter must:

  • Be printed on the employer’s official letterhead
  • Clearly state your assignment details
  • Include your job title
  • Confirm your employment start date
  • State the duration of your assignment
  • Include your work location
  • Be signed by an authorised representative.

 

Visa Fee

Short-Term Press Visa Fee: GBP 304 (Including travel insurance)

Payment methods accepted:

  • Cash
  • Bank transfer

Payment must be completed on the appointment/application day.

 

Visa Processing Information

The visa processing time is up to 10 working days.

Please note:

  • Your passport will be retained by our office during the visa processing period.
  • No fast-track service is available.

Payment must be completed on the appointment/application day.

 

Visa Processing Information

The visa process may take up to 6 weeks.

Please note: We do not keep your passport during the application process.

Step 1

After submitting your application:

You will receive a reference number directly from the Turkish Consulate via email within approximately 10 working days.

You cannot travel to Türkiye before receiving this reference number.

Once you receive the reference number:

You must provide it to your employer/company in Türkiye.

Your company will then submit your work permit application to the Ministry of Labour in Türkiye.

Step 2

Once your work permit is approved by the Ministry in Ankara:

  • Your company will inform you.
  • You must bring your passport to our office.
  • We will submit your passport to the Turkish Consulate.
  • The Consulate will issue your visa within a maximum of 10 working days.

Once your visa is ready:

  • We will contact you.
  • You will need to collect your passport from our office.
